So, the day has come where I’m critical of a photo of Alison Brie. Neither you or I, dear reader, saw this coming.

A) My knee-jerk reaction to the first image is “Alison Brie doesn’t have the body type of Marilyn Monroe.” Every photoshoot editor in the country must be dying to do some take on Marilyn Monroe, and rarely if ever do they work out. Here is another example where it doesn’t.

Further, she’s looking strained, and not in a comedic or even Betty Draper-dramatic way. It’s an overworked way, or a Stepford way. And the article isn’t about either of those ideas, so just an all around fail.

B) She looks much better as Don Draper, which is the image on the cover of the new issue of Wired. Possibly because she’s allowed to have some character in that photo. And Community fans have seen her involved with Don Draper impressions before, and it’s always great. And I guess the cover image makes the argument of us being in a platinum era of television by way of WE GET ALISON BRIE ON TWO SHOWS, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

On a related topic, this golden age might be on it’s way out, I fear. More on that soon.
